Unofficially, the Ardbeg distillery has been distilling since 1794 - in 1815, the distillery was bought by John McDougall and officially opened under the name Ardbeg.

"Ardbeg" comes from the Gaelic and translates as "little hill".

The distillery is located on the south coast of the Islay whisky region.

Weisshaus in Tirol has had access to rare rarities from the Ardbeg Distillery since 2017. Mr. Osler selected two special casks on site from Ardbeg's private stocks.

Ardbeg The Ultimate Private Single Cask cask no. 3201 enriches the exclusive partnership between Weisshaus and Ardbeg and celebrates the unmistakable Ardbeg style in a special way. This single cask, reserved exclusively for the Weisshaus store, began its maturation on August 1, 2012. The whisky matured for 11 years in a former bourbon cask, intensifying its typical Ardbeg character traits. Limited to just 180 bottles worldwide, this rare gem embodies the essence of the distillery in its most exceptional form.
