Ardbeg is considered "undoubtedly the most imposing distillery in the world. The house was founded in 1815 and was narrowly saved from company closure in 1997. The distillery is located on the storm-tossed, rugged and famous whisky island of Islay off the west coast of Scotland.
The Ardbeg Heavy Vapours tells the story about the distillery's lost purifier. Purifier is the name given to the part attached to the upper outlet of the second still, which additionally separates the two distilling processes. On Islay, Ardbeg is the only distillery that uses a purifier during distillation.
