Unofficially, the Ardbeg distillery has been distilling since 1794 - in 1815, the distillery was purchased by John McDougall and officially opened under the name Ardbeg.

"Ardbeg" comes from the Gaelic and translated means something like "small hill".

The distillery is located on the south coast of the Islay whisky region.

Since 2017, Weisshaus in Tyrol has had access to rare rarities from the Ardbeg Distillery. Mr. Osler has selected two special barrels on site from the private stocks at Ardbeg.

This Ardbeg matures for 21 years. It is a unique uigeadail. The maturation took place in oloroso sherry casks, which previously contained the Glenmorangie Original and then the Glenmorangie Lasanta was created. Three years after that, the Ardbeg Uigedail came onto the market. The 1565 cask impressed so much that it was set aside for an exceptionally long maturation and then bottled for this single cask whisky.
