Wild Turkey Kentucky Straight Bourbon is the work of Master Distiller Eddie Russell and was introduced in 2011. It matures for 6 to 8 years in selected oak casks, much longer than any other whiskies in this "weight class". In addition, 81 American oak casks were used for storage, which have the roasting level "No. 4 char" - i.e. alligator. Compared to the Scottish colleagues at Ardbeg, Wild Turkey does not make such a big fuss about this fact.
So this Wild Turkey is not a lighter offshoot of the 101 like the 80 proof, but a completely new whisky from Austin Nichols.
