The traditional Mayer winery on Pfarrplatz is the epitome of Viennese wine culture and has been producing first-class Viennese wine in Doebling since 1683. The vineyards of the winery are located entirely within the city limits of Vienna, in the 17th and 19th districts. Numerous awards and prizes at national and international wine competitions underline the outstanding quality of the wines from Mayer am Pfarrplatz. This winery remains a symbol of Vienna's rich wine-growing history and the excellent Viennese wine culture.
A particularly impressive example of this quality is the Wiener Gemischter Satz. This cuvee consists of 40% Gruener Veltliner, 30% Riesling, 15% Rotgipfler and 15% Zierfandler, with the Zierfandler vines being between 13 and 48 years old. The vines thrive on shell limestone, sand and gravel soils, which gives the wine its special minerality and complexity.
