The Vriesenhof wine estate, idyllically situated in the Paradyskloof Valley between Stellenbosch and the Helderberg Mountains, is run by Jan Coetzee, a former rugby star who has held prestigious positions in viticulture with Kanonkop and Bouwland. After retiring from his sporting career, Coetzee has dedicated his life to viticulture with the aim of creating exceptional wines.

Under his leadership, Vriesenhof focuses on first-class vine care and radical quantity limitation. These practices, combined with meticulous work in the cellar, have made Vriesenhof one of the leading wine producers in the Cape. Particular attention is paid to the Pinotage grape variety, which thrives in ideal conditions in this region and gives the wines a unique identity.

The Vriesenhof wines undergo a careful ageing process, starting with maturation in steel tanks followed by 15 months in French barriques, which contributes to the development of their characteristic elegance and complexity. With a residual sugar of 1.6 g/l and an acidity of 5.3 g/l, they offer excellent balance. This combination of careful care, limited production and skilled cellar work reflects Coetzee's commitment to getting the best out of every harvest.
