The Umathum winery is located in Burgenland on Lake Neusiedl. In addition to authentic red wines, the winery also produces exciting white wines. However, over 85% of the more than 33 hectares of vineyards are reserved for red wine. Very important and well-known hillside vineyards are Haideboden, Vom Stein, Kirschgarten and Ried Hallebuehl. All the vineyards are located around Lake Neusiedl. The single-vineyard wines only leave the winery after a 3-year storage period and are offered for sale.
Haideboden in its original spelling with "A" covers the area around the pilgrimage site of Frauenkirchen. The name Haideboden was first used for this wine in 1991. The grapes for the cuvee come from vineyards west of Frauenkirchen.
