Club Battonage was founded by five friends Markus Altenburger, Florian Gayer, Gerhard Kracher, Erich Scheiblhofer and Christian Tschida. The winemakers came up with the idea after a blind tasting in 2000. Batonnage" refers to the stirring of the lees during the winemaking process.
The cuvee is made from three grape varieties, Blaufraenkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, whereby the main component of the red wine is still the Blaufraenkisch grape. With an edition of 570 bottles (0.7 l), it is an absolute rarity and very limited. It is said that there are even fewer than 100 bottles of the Magnum per vintage.
The bottles of this wine are sealed with a natural cork.
