The Lost Distillery STRATHEDEN Blended Malt 43% Vol. 0,7l in Tinbox

The Lost Distillery Company is an independent distillery that seeks to bring old whiskies back to life through historical documentation and research. For these whiskies, young and old casks are used to create 15-18 year old whiskies.

The second bottling from the Lost Distillery is this Stratheden. Founded in 1829, the Stratheden distillery unfortunately closed in 1926 due to the effects of Prohibition. Some parts of the original building still stand today. The label is the same color as the door to the distillery's old warehouse. Finally, the distillery was known as Auchtermuchty and was owned by the Bonthrone family, who were known far and wide as brewers and maltsters. Alexander Bonthrone founded the distillery at that time and allegedly distilled whiskey there until his death in 1890. He became Scotland's oldest master distiller at the age of 92. Another special feature of the distillery was the unique water source Lovers Pool. Peat from the Orkney Islands was used for this whiskey.
