The Rhum J.M distillery is one of the few distilleries dedicated to the production of rhum agricole. Located in the countryside of Macouba on the island of Martinique, it is subject to the requirements of the "Appellation d'Origine Controlee", a protected designation of origin that guarantees the quality and authenticity of the rhum. A key feature of production at Rhum J.M is the use of freshly pressed sugar cane juice, which is grown in the company's own fields at the foot of Montagne Pelee.
The Rhum J.M Vieux Agricole Millesime, a flagship of the distillery, undergoes a careful ageing process of ten years in selected bourbon barrels. This long maturation period allows a complex development of the flavor profiles, which are further refined by the natural conditions of storage. What is particularly noteworthy about this rhum is that it contains no additional colorants, added sugar or chill filtration, making it a pure expression of traditional rhum agricole.
