The story of the Argentinian Puro winery began in the late 1990s when Dieter Meier, singer of the Swiss pop duo YELLO, acquired 380 hectares of land. He planted classic Argentinian grape varieties such as Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon on around 120 hectares. Meier's focus has always been on authentically representing the unique characteristics of the indigenous grape varieties. The winery is located in Agrelo Alto, south of Mendoza and at the foot of the Andes, where stony, mineral-rich soils provide optimal conditions for viticulture. The altitude of over 1000 meters in combination with the intense heat ensures fine fruit aromas and longer ripening of the grapes. Puro concentrates mainly on South American grape varieties such as Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot.
Puro Corte is a well-balanced red wine made from a blend of grape varieties: 50% Malbec, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. With ageing potential until 2029, this wine offers the opportunity to develop further and gain in complexity. The natural cork ensures appropriate ageing and preservation of the aromas.
