The Paul Kerschbaum winery is one of the leading wineries in Austria. It is located in the Blaufraenkisch region of Horitschon in Burgenland. The term "Blaufraenkischland" refers to a wine-growing region in central Burgenland, where the Blaufraenkisch grape variety is mainly cultivated. Paul Kerschbaum's aim is to produce powerful, long-lasting wines with a woody touch. In 2011, Paul Kerschbaum placed the production of the wines in the hands of his son Michael.
The Duerrau vineyard is characterized by its soil composition. The soil is very loamy, almost clayey, where the Blaufraenkisch variety feels particularly at home. In dry years, this vineyard guarantees impressive quality. The variety is matured exclusively in barrique barrels, where it is aged for at least 14 months. This wine reaches drinking maturity after approx. 5 years. It goes best with the following dishes: roasted meat, feathered game, furred game, lamb.
