The Paul Kerschbaum winery is one of the leading wineries in Austria. It is located in the Blaufraenkisch region of Horitschon in Burgenland. The term "Blaufraenkischland" refers to a wine-growing region in central Burgenland, where the Blaufraenkisch grape variety is mainly cultivated. Paul Kerschbaum's aim is to produce powerful, long-lasting wines with a woody touch. In 2011, Paul Kerschbaum placed the production of the wines in the hands of his son Michael.
The Duerrau site is characterized by its unique soil structure, which consists mainly of loamy soils that are almost clayey. This provides ideal conditions for the Blaufraenkisch grape and guarantees outstanding quality, especially in dry years.
The wine matures exclusively in barrique barrels, where it remains for at least 14 months before it is ready to drink, which is usually the case after around 5 years. The bottles are sealed with a natural cork after ageing.
