Marchesi Antinori is a prestigious and historic Italian wine company that has been producing exceptional wines for centuries. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious family-owned wineries in Italy with a rich heritage spanning more than 600 years. The Antinori family has been involved in viticulture since 1385 and can trace its roots back to Tuscany. Over the centuries, the family's passion for viticulture and winemaking has been passed down from generation to generation, preserving and developing the traditions of winemaking. Marchesi Antinori is known for its commitment to quality and craftsmanship, using a combination of traditional winemaking techniques and modern advances. The winery focuses on sustainable practices and has taken measures to protect the environment and preserve the integrity of the soil.

Tignanello was first launched in 1971 and quickly gained recognition for defying traditional winemaking conventions. It was one of the pioneers of the "Super Tuscan" category, which refers to high-quality Tuscan wines that incorporate non-indigenous grape varieties and innovative winemaking techniques. The wine is named after the Tignanello vineyard, which is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region in Tuscany. Tignanello is mainly made from Sangiovese, the typical grape variety of Tuscany, which is blended with other, non-traditional grape varieties, in particular Cabernet Sauvignon. Tignanello is often aged for a certain period of time in French oak barrels, which gives the wine additional aromas and complexity.
