Kingsbarns Distillery is located in the middle of Scotland's breadbasket, the Kingdom of Fife, and is owner-managed by the Wemyss family, which has already established itself in the whiskey world as an independent bottler.
The Kingsbarns Doocot Whisky pays homage to one of the distillery's most striking architectural features. A doocot is a structure for housing pigeons, often placed on a pole or against a wall, containing compartments where the birds can roost and lay eggs. The tribute is freestanding, with Adam-style battlements and Gothic details.
This whiskey is made from barley grown and harvested within less than 10 kilometers around the distillery. It is aged in a combination of ex-bourbon casks and ex-Portuguese red wine casks.
