Due to Prohibition, which prohibited the production, sale and transportation of alcohol, Kentucky Owl was closed.
The whiskey was confiscated by the government and moved to a warehouse for storage - however, the warehouse mysteriously burned down with all the good whiskey.
Dixon Deman, Charles' great-great-grandson, took the fate of his family into his own hands and made it his goal to revive his family history.
"Takumi" means master in Japanese and reflects the authentic way Master Blender Yahisa Yusuke and Hall of Famer John Rhea worked together.
This whiskey is a blended, limited edition bourbon whiskey. Kentucky Owl Takumi Edition is made from 4, 5, 6 and 13 year old Kentucky Straight Bourbons with corn, malted barley and rye or wheat. The ingredients used are carefully selected to create an outstanding Japanese-inspired bourbon experience.
