The Markus IRO winery is located in Gols in the middle of the traditional wine-growing region, where around 20 hectares of vines are cultivated in outstanding locations such as Gabarinza and Heideboden. 30% of the vines are used for white wines, 70% for red wines.
The Pannonian and continental influences of high humidity and low rainfall favor the quality of IRO wines. The soil of the vineyards is covered by limestone, gravel, clay and sand.
The fully ripe grapes of the Special Blend are harvested by hand. The maceration period is between 14 and 18 days, followed by maturation in two-thirds full barriques.
