In 1975, Gerard Bertrand began his grape harvest at Chateau de Villemajou in the Corbieres, where he discovered his passion for wine. Over the course of twelve years, he honed his skills alongside his father Georges Bertrand until the fourth generation finally carried on the legacy. After the tragic death of his father in 1987, Gerard Bertrand took over the family management of the Domaine de Villemajou and founded the Gerard Bertrand wine company. The Gerard Bertrand Group comprises 16 wine estates and 16 chateaux along the Mediterranean coast of France, covering a total of 850 hectares. Some of the grapes are harvested by hand and matured in 225-liter Bordeaux barrels, while the rest is stored in stainless steel tanks.

Gerard Bertrand An 1130 Cite de Carcassonne Chardonnay is an elegant white wine that reflects the Chardonnay grape variety in all its finesse. The grapes come from the vineyards around the historic fortified city of Carcassonne and benefit from a unique terroir that gives the wine a distinctive freshness and minerality. After careful manual harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house, where they are carefully sorted and gently crushed. Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks preserves the fruity purity of the Chardonnay, while the subsequent maturation on the fine lees over several months ensures a creamy texture and harmonious balance. The wine is only bottled and sealed with a natural cork once it has reached optimum maturity. Thanks to its solid ageing potential of around three years, it gains even more complexity over time.
