In 1875, Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa, a young adventurer from Genoa, Italy, left his family behind to travel to the exotic land of Nicaragua. The perfect location for the distillery was found at the foot of San Cristobal Volcano, the highest and most active volcano in Nicaragua.
