Domaene Wachau, based in Austria's most renowned wine-growing region, the Wachau, is one of the country's leading white wine producers. Steep terraced vineyards, a cool marginal climate and barren primary rock soils characterize the wines of the Wachau. The terraced vineyards of the Loibenberg reach up to 420 meters. Warm Pannonian air masses and Gfoehl gneiss characterize the terroir of this site. Federspiel refers to dry, medium-bodied and particularly elegant wines from the Wachau.

The 2023 vintage began with a mild and dry winter, followed by a cool spring that provided the soils with a good supply of moisture. This moisture benefited the vines during the hot summer days and promoted their growth. Although there were several hailstorms, these did not diminish the quality of the grapes, which developed well. The high September temperatures encouraged ripening, which was balanced out by cool October nights. The result is balanced and harmonious wines with a full-bodied texture and multi-layered, juicy aromas.

Domaene Wachau Riesling Federspiel Loibenberg is made from 100% fully ripe Riesling grapes that thrive on the sun-drenched slopes of the Loibenberg. After careful maturation, the wine is sealed with a screw cap. This Riesling is characterized in particular by its lively acidity and fine minerality, which give it excellent ageing potential.

The Loibenberg is one of the most important single vineyard sites in Austria and extends up to 420 meters above sea level with stone terraces. The terroir consists of weathered soils over Gfoehler gneiss with some loess or clay and is strongly influenced by the Pannonian climate. Thanks to its many ditches, the Loibenberg offers various microclimates that enrich the diversity of the wines.
