Domaene Wachau, located in Austria's most renowned wine-growing region, the Wachau, is one of the country's leading white wine producers. Steep terraced vineyards, a cool marginal climate and barren primary rock soils characterize the wines of the Wachau.

The terrace vineyards of the Loibenberg reach up to 420 meters. Warm Pannonian air masses and Gfoehler gneiss characterize the terroir of this site. Federspiel refers to dry, medium-bodied and particularly elegant wines of the Wachau.

A mild and dry winter was followed by a wet April, which provided the soils with plenty of moisture. Towards September, the weather deteriorated and there were rains at the beginning of harvest, but the returning sun in October allowed the grapes to ripen slowly but perfectly. The result is extremely elegant wines with lots of energy and a harmonious acidity, clarity and substance. Only healthy grape material is used for this Gruener Veltliner. After a short maceration period, the wine is fermented at controlled temperatures and then aged in steel tanks.
