The famous champagne brand Dom Perignon takes its name from a 17th century Benedictine monk, Dom Pierre Perignon. The monk tried to make the best wine in the world for 47 years.
Dom Perignon is basically only available as a vintage wine, whereby it can best develop the unique nuances of the respective vintage. The fully ripe grapes of this champagne come from the famous terroirs of Champagne and are selected according to extremely strict procedures. The year 2013 was characterized by a wet and cold winter and a dull spring. These climatic conditions shifted the entire growing cycle by about 15 days. The hot and dry weather during the summer favored the development of the grapes, which could finally be harvested from September 28 to October 15.
