The history of Compania Vinicola del Norte de Espana began in 1879 in the city of Haro, taking the initials of the company and thus came to the name "CVNE". A simple spelling mistake, in which the V was diluted with a U, led to the creation of what is now the leading wine brand in the national market, "CUNE".
The company's winemaking takes place in Eli Pilar, the first winemaking plant in Spain.
The grapes for the production of Cune Rioja Reserva come from the Caballeros, Santo Tomas and Sarnamoros estates, located in Rioja Alta, in the towns of Rodezno, Villalba and Haro.
Fermentation takes place in a 20,000 kg stainless steel tank. The wine then undergoes heat maceration and remains in the tank for 18 months. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels and American oak barrels.
