The history of Compania Vinicola del Norte de Espana began in 1879 in the town of Haro, taking the initials of the company and thus came to the name 'CVNE'. A simple spelling mistake, in which the V was diluted with a U, led to the creation of what is now the leading wine brand in the national market, 'CUNE'.
The company's winemaking takes place in 'Eli Pilar', the first winemaking plant in Spain.
The vineyards for the production of the Cune Rioja Crianza are located in Rioja Alta, near the winery CVNE. Half of the grapes come from their own vineyards in haro and surrounding towns.
The grapes are fermented in a 20,000-kilo stainless steel tank at a controlled temperature between 25 and 27°C. After 12 days in the tank, the grapes are pressed and malolactic fermentation takes place. The wine is then aged for one year in American oak barrels.
