Legend has it that more than a hundred years ago, the founder of the Concha y Toro winery, Don Melchora, hid a valuable collection of wines in his personal cellar.

However, as time went by, he noticed that bottles were disappearing in strange ways. It seemed that his secret cellar was no longer so secret and that the townspeople, having heard about his exquisite wines, could not resist tasting them for themselves.

Since the locals feared superstitions and supernatural phenomena, he spread the rumor of strange events to secure his treasure.

Noises in the cellar, echoes, shadows and figures could only be explained by one simple fact: that the devil was dwelling in his cellar.

Thus, the protagonist of the legend gave Casillero del Diablo its unique name to cross borders and become one of the most famous Chilean wine brands in the world.
