In 1913, the Madeira Wine Company was created by the merger of two companies. The Blandy family runs the company, whose wine cellars are located in a 200-year-old warehouse in the center of Funchal.
The grapes for Blandy's Madeira Bual 10 Years Old Medium Rich are hand-picked and fermented in stainless steel tanks at temperatures between 18°C - 21°C. Once the desired sweetness is achieved, fermentation is interrupted by the addition of brandy. Aging then takes place in American oak barrels. This process gives the product its characteristic aromas and qualities.
