This whisky is produced in the Baden State Brewery Rothaus in the idyllic Black Forest. The brewery was founded in 1791 by the Benedictine monastery of St. Blasien. The location is ideal for whisky production as it offers plenty of natural water resources and, thanks to its location in the middle of the large forests, there is also sufficient wood for heating.

Every year on March 16, a new edition of the brewery's single malt whisky is released. This date is a special tribute to the birthday of Max Sachs, the brewery's long-time master brewer and "whisky father". Sachs made a significant contribution to the development and perfection of this whisky.

The production of the whisky begins with the selection of the best malt, which is combined with the particularly soft Rothaus water. This water, which comes from the depths of the Black Forest, gives the whisky its special mildness and purity. After malting and mashing, the mash is distilled twice in traditional copper stills at the renowned Kammer-Kirsch distillery. This process, which requires a great deal of skill and experience, ensures that the whisky develops its clear, fine aromas.
