The company was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, one of the pioneers of Japanese whiskey, and celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2024. The Miyagikyo Distillery was established in 1969 in a wooded valley near Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture and was deliberately designed as a counterpoint to the bolder Yoichi Distillery. To achieve the characteristic Miyagikyo style, the pot stills are operated using indirect steam heating, resulting in a particularly elegant, fruity, and smooth malt character.

\r

The Miyagikyo Single Malt is bottled at 45% ABV and, with no age statement, presents itself as a harmonious blend of malt whiskies from the distillery that have been aged for varying lengths of time. Typical of Miyagikyo is the interplay of sweet fruit, malt, vanilla, and gentle oak notes. The official description highlights, in particular, hints of apple, pear, dried fruit, and vanilla. With this edition, the 90th Anniversary gift box takes center stage, commemorating Nikka, which was founded in 1934; the bottling itself corresponds to the well-known Miyagikyo Single Malt at 45%. Thus, the 0.7-liter special edition combines Japanese whiskey tradition with an attractive anniversary presentation for collectors and enthusiasts of Nikka whiskey.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0865/2193/8218/files/2d090bb8d9fb974b5dcd0ca1c0df9a552027f4e7c6365bdc417f2b72570fca5a.jpg?v=1791816827
https://mydrinx.shop/products/nikka-miyagikyo-single-malt-whisky-90th-anniversary-45-vol-0-7l-in-giftbox
