For Big Peat, the independent Scottish bottler Douglas Laing blends exclusively single malts from the island of Islay. The Winter Edition bears a full age statement of 10 years and, thanks to the selected red wine casks, gains an additional fruity dimension that contrasts with the blend’s maritime peat smoke. This special edition is bottled at a robust 48% ABV and comes in a 0.7-liter bottle with a matching gift box.

\r

The Big Peat series is part of Douglas Laing’s Remarkable Regional Malts and was developed to capture the typical character of the Scottish whisky region of Islay in a blended malt. Traditionally, the focus is on peat smoke, maritime influences, and a robust Islay character. In the Winter Edition 2026, maturation in red wine casks enhances this profile with darker fruit and wine notes. The combination of 10 years of aging, Islay single malts, and red wine casks makes this seasonal release a unique interpretation of Big Peat and particularly appealing to lovers of smoky whiskies with an additional wine-cask influence.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0865/2193/8218/files/759785ec3f6b869799d249612aff9a699496a207e0b0b6984341642ccbfefa4b.jpg?v=1790865087
https://mydrinx.shop/products/douglas-laing-big-peat-10-years-old-red-wine-cask-the-winter-edition-2026-48-vol-0-7l-in-giftbox
